The 9th Social Business Day was held on the 28th and 29th of June in Bangkok. This 2 days summit, organized by the Yunus Centre and Yunus Center at AIT, presided by Pr. Muhammad Yunus, gathered more than 1500 delegates from more than 50 countries around a common goal: sharing, inspiring and collaborating around social business to tackle the planet’s most urgent issues.
On this occasion, the Yunus Sports Hub – that carries the international dimension of the Platform ESS 2024, moderated a panel on the power of sports and social business to solve human issues. Among the speakers, Marie Barsacq (Head of Impact & Heritage at Paris 2024) and Elisa Yavchitz (Executive Director at Les Canaux) presented Paris 2024 project for organizing inclusive, sustainable and solidary Games together with the ambition of Platform ESS 2024 to encourage the access of social businesses to the procurement contracts related to the Olympic and Paralympic Games organization in 2024.
This presentation of the unique concept of “Inclusive & Solidary Games” developed in France allowed to share a strong message beyond the French borders: the organization of worldwide sports competitions such as the Olympic and Paralympic Games represent an opportunity to better understand the local challenges to take up and generate opportunities to grab in order to progress towards sustainable development, and a solidary and inclusive society.
