Conference-Debate: Sport, Social Business & Entrepreneurship

On Tuesday June 25th, the Centre Yunus and Les Canaux opened their conference cycle on sport and social business under a burning Parisian sun. This first edition put the themes of sport and entrepreneurship within the social and solidary economy at its heart. In front of a very packed room, our guests shared their experiences before discussing with the public.

Aurelien Duarte, seven times world champion of combat sports inaugurated the sports coach, he notably works with Street4Fit, a young social business founded by Pierre Guyon and Jafaar Elalamy, whom also participated to the debate. Street4Fit aims at developing social inclusion through sport while offering job opportunities for top athletes in need of professional opportunities.

Marc Bultez shared his experience as co-founder of La Recyclerie Sportive, an organization that fights for zero-waste sports and an access to sports for all through its second-hand equipment store. Ecology and social inclusion are the key words of Platform ESS 2024, which was represented that night by his sponsor Paralympic athlete Ryad Sallem. Founded by Paris 2024, SOLIDEO, Centre Yunus and Les Canaux, it aims at making the first inclusive, environmentally conscious and solidary Games in history.

Transforming major sports events into non only economic, but also social and environmental opportunities at the international scale is the objective of the Yunus Sports Hub, represented that night by Yoko Youssouf. Pr. Muhammad Yunus is also committed to athlete reconversion towards entrepreneurship through the Athlete 365 platform, driven in partnership with the International Olympic Committee.

That rich moment of discussions and experience sharing was the occasion for all to make useful connections and get inspiration, whether they might be entrepreneurs, wannabe social businesses or simply curious minds!
